What to expect: Exciting, educational, simple, colorful, signature illustrations.
My First Ramadan follows a young boys first fast along the way he explains about what this blessed month and its history. He explains about Sahur and praying Fajr in the morning as well as breaking his fast with a date for iftar and praying maghrib. He also explains about the celebration of eidul fitr and going to the eid prayer with his dad. The book is written in a simple manner for young children and like all the other books by the author she uses her signature illustrations. My kids really enjoyed the book however I can’t help but think its way too simple. I would have liked to see something more interactive and engaging as many of her other books that we own. Then again, the lack of extra flaps means there will be none to rip off lol. Despite it’s simplicity, it’s a book worth reading with toddlers.
