When you only celebrate a few holidays in a year, you tend to go off and make everything a little bit more special. Especially during the month of Ramadan. I struggle to hide Eid gifts now that they are older (not because they will try to look for the hidden gifts but because I just can’t wait to see their faces when they open them) At the same time, I also don’t want to turn into one of those moms who gives her kids 90 gifts on that special day. Okay, there is only one mom that does that and she has won herself a prize debt for being the most excessive mother around. I have urges to “shop till I drop and spoil the kids with junk” but I try to keep them at bay so I decided to start my own version of a Ramadan Gift Basket. It’s not really a basket but an Ikea cart that we use for their ‘school stuff’. For Ramadan, I will be turning it into the Ramadan “kitchen sink.” Many of the toys will be educational, stem toys or activity sticker books so I don’t feel too bad about it. I really want this Ramadan to be very simple even though this sounds like it’s a lot of ‘stuff’ I know it’s going to keep them playing independently for hours and that means I can focus on Ibaadah and walk around like a zombie with my headset in my ears. “Help yourselves kids because mom is officially in recharge and reboot mode…”
What we have in our Ramadan Gift Basket:
I will change things up every ten days inshaa Allaah, and the plan is to have a variety of activities and toys in the cart for them to help themselves to when we are at home. I have prepared some printables, cutting and pasting pages and easy crafts that will be adding to the cart.
On a side note for those who follow me on Instagram and advised me to get the Bob Books for beginner readers check out what I have found, a game to go with it #happydanceinahalalway
Not everything I have ordered has arrived yet, and I will also have to gift wrap many of these but some of the more expensive gifts might become Eid gifts inshaa Allah though the jury is still out on that one but for now some of the stuff inside the cart are…
